Car description

The Toyota Avanza is a small van , which in Indonesia, led by Toyota has been designed and will be built there, as well as in Malaysia . The car was presented at the auto show in Gaikindo in 2003 and since then more than 100,000 units are sold each year. The name Avanza is borrowed from the Italian , although presumably the derivative avanzato with the meaning is intended progressive , however, as another possible derivation , leftover . Waste .

The Avanza is a new model, which together with the more luxurious Innova to our and China to Dario Terios replaced.

Apart from Indonesia and Malaysia, the Avanza is offered in Lebanon , Bangladesh , Thailand , the Philippines , South Africa , Mexico and China.

The first generation car is a small van with 5 doors and rear wheel drive . Two motors are available: A 1.3 L-R4 to 92 hp (67 kW) at 6000 min -1 and a 1.5 l-R4 with 109 hp (80 kW), also at 6000 min -1 .

In 2004, a special model of the Avanza came out, which was equipped with the more powerful engine with variable valve timing (VVTi) and automatic transmission. Only 200 copies were made.

End of the third quarter of 2006, the Avanza was revised and got a new grille, new bumpers, a new interior and new headlights and taillights. The new model New Avanza S also has a new engine, again a 1.5-L-R4, but with two overhead camshafts (DOHC) and variable valve timing (VVTi) – as in the Rush – plus ABS .

In Malaysia, there is the Avanza as a model 1.5 G with automatic transmission and as a model 1.3 E with manual or automatic transmission.

In the Philippines, the Avanza has been available since 2006 in two trim levels: as model J with 1.3 l R4 engine, without power windows and door locks and only with manual transmission and as model G with 1.5 l R4 engine, with electric Window regulators and door locks and either with manual 5-speed gearbox or 4-speed automatic. Since 2008 there is the J without third row of seats. This model is often used as a taxi in the Philippines.

The Avanza received in 2008 a new headliner with guide channels for better supply of fresh air in the rear of the car and new interior colors.

The second generation of the Avanza was presented on November 7, 2011 in Jakarta . On August 12, 2015, Toyota introduced a revised version. The second generation is marketed again as Daihatsu Xenia in some states.
